Athens Dust Bowl 2008

We’re still at the 40 Watt this Thursday, November 6. Doors and Music are at 7p. The lineup is as follows:

The Incredible Sandwich (closing out the evening)
Betsy Franck
Harp Unstrung
Ken Will Morton
The Bros. Marler
Nathan Sheppard
Leaving Countries (startin’ the evening off)

The beneficiary of this year’s event will be the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. Admission is $5 or 5 cans of food (although it is definitely great to bring both!). This is a benefit so the more the merrier!! All canned goods and proceeds after cost will go to the food bank.

Thanks to all!

The Athens Dust Bowl Ga. Drought Awareness and Benefit Concert on November 27, 2007 was a huge success. Thanks to the many musicians, sponsors, supporters, planners, and friends who made this event possible, we were able to raise money for local water conservation groups--while enjoying some of the best live music out there.

If you live outside Athens and want to use the Dust Bowl Concert idea for your area as a way of raising awareness and funds for water conservation, please do--just let us know (use the contact page to the left) so we can post a link here.

The drought continues, the population grows, and new developments still don't take future water needs into consideration. We all need to develop new habits for living--reducing personal water use and energy consumption (electric power generation uses water!). It doesn't have to be painful; it just has to be different. Small changes can make a difference, and lead the way to bigger changes in the ways that we plan for the future.

Keep saving water and playing music!
